I have some slots available for our hafla that will follow the "Enhancing Dance Through Ritual" workshop on January 19th at Studio Zen in Yardley, PA.
All styles are welcome - looking for both soloists and troupes - tribal, cabaret, or somewhere in between!
We also welcome musicians to come share their talent - we will start off the evening with a short ritual to celebrate the returning of the light and have open-jam time as well.
Vending by Med'Devi Ink, Crystal Kini Designs, Family Faux Body Tattoos - meaning shiny goodies of all kinds, Eye Kandy glitter, massage, and more!
Details on the event, and about the workshop (spaces still available for this too, special rate good through this Sunday, and there's a group discount for troupe/teachers): www.darklydramatic.com/tempes...al.html
E-mail or msg Tempest for details!

Re: Performance Opp for Dancers/Musicians
Thu, January 10, 2008 - 10:59 AMwhat time are you doing performances? Or is that obvious if I go look at the website info.
There is an afternoon event in DE that day, but some of us may be able to get north, depending on the time. -

Re: Performance Opp for Dancers/Musicians
Thu, January 10, 2008 - 11:06 AMIt's on the website, but I'm glad to post it here too :) We're looking at from 6-9pm. I know the event down in DE is at 1pm...so depending on how long that it is, should give you some time to get a bite to eat and come dance with us! -

Re: Performance Opp for Dancers/Musicians
Thu, January 10, 2008 - 4:52 PMI'll let you know soon. We are supposed to be done by 4...but I am at least half mistress of decorations, so I'd need to cram them all back in the car before traveling, and whoever else I might be able to talk into going. -

Re: Performance Opp for Dancers/Musicians
Sun, January 13, 2008 - 1:03 PMI think I have to stay as a maybe. =( Maybe I'll have enough time and energy to get there after packing up from Raq the Casbah. At least I 'd see more dancing.
If not, I know I'll be seeing at least some of those who would be there at the next Drac's Ball. -

event update!
Thu, January 17, 2008 - 1:08 PMI still have a few spots left for the workshop on Saturday, and if you contact me before Saturday morning, the tuition will still be the pre-registration price of only $50 - and this also includes admission to the Gothla in the evening! (If you'd like to pay with a credit card, please use the PayPal button on the webpage: www.darklydramatic.com/tempes....html), otherwise, you can bring cash or a check to the event.
The workshop is from 1-4pm (3 hours, with a short break), and I will be there by 12:30 to start getting things set up and registering folks. The Gothla will be from 6-9pm, and start with an opening ritual, that all are welcome to participate in. (There are some great restaurants up the street from the studio, so you can get some food during the break). Then there will be performances by myself, Ak'Ana, Alexia, Friga, and more! I have room for 1-2 performers for those interested---but please contact me ASAP!
For the Gothla, in addition to Med'Devi Ink (my art, corset belts, DVDs, CDs, hair thingies, patterns, etc), we will be blessed with Crystal Kini Designs and beautiful make-up (glitter!) and massage by Family Faux Tattoo! If you'd like to attend *just* the Gothla, all we ask is a $5 donation to help cover the space.
The workshop focus is "Enhancing Dance With Ritual" and we will apply both physical concept and metaphysical ideas to our movements and interpretation of the dance. This is truly a wonderful way to ground yourself and prepare to experience the dance in a whole new way for the new year, no matter what level of dancer you are - you'll take home practices to use both privately and for performance. You can find the complete workshop description, studio info, and paypal info at www.darklydramatic.com/tempes...al.html
Hope to see you there!
blessings,
Tempest -
